Terms of use
By accessing and using VocaBag, you accept these terms without reservation. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service. This is an English translation of the French version, which prevails in case of discrepancy.
1. Purpose and acceptance
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern access to and use of the VocaBag service, available at https://vocabag.com, published by SECBEC (SASU, SIRET 92486099200016), whose registered office is at 60 rue François Ier, 75008 Paris, France.
Accessing the site or creating a user account constitutes full and complete acceptance of these Terms. SECBEC reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Users are invited to review them regularly.
2. Description of the service
VocaBag is a web and mobile language learning application that offers:
- access to structured vocabulary in 12 languages (Moroccan Darija, Modern Standard Arabic, English, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Turkish, Mandarin Chinese and Korean), organized into 21 themed categories;
- a spaced repetition review system (SRS SM-2 method) personalized to each user's progress;
- interactive exercises: multiple choice, matching, free translation, audio dictation and spoken answer;
- individual progress tracking (XP, levels, badges, streak, missions);
- global and weekly leaderboards between users;
- access through a web browser and through the mobile app (Expo/React Native).
Part of the service is available free of charge subject to registration (free plan). A paid subscription (Premium plan) is available to access advanced features, under the conditions described in article 3 below.
3. Plans and subscription
3.1 Free plan
The free plan gives access to the basic features: Multiple choice and Matching exercises (unlimited sessions), spaced repetition, leaderboard, gamification and friends. This plan is limited to 5 new words per day and to the learning direction from the language you learn to your interface language only.
3.2 Premium plan
The Premium subscription, priced at €2.99 per month including VAT, unlocks all features: unlimited sessions, unlimited new words, every exercise mode (free translation, audio dictation, spoken answer), both learning directions, free practice and the social features (friends, duels).
The subscription has no minimum commitment. It renews automatically every month until cancelled by the user. It can be cancelled at any time from the management portal available in the Profile section; Premium access remains active until the end of the period already billed.
Payment is processed by Stripe Inc. VocaBag does not store any banking data. If a payment fails, Stripe makes automatic retry attempts; SECBEC reserves the right to suspend Premium access if the payment definitively fails.
3.3 Right of withdrawal
In accordance with article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to digital content whose performance has begun with the user's express consent before the end of the withdrawal period. By subscribing and immediately accessing the Premium features, the user expressly acknowledges waiving their right of withdrawal.
4. Access to the service
Access to the full service requires creating a user account. Two sign-up methods are available: email address and password, or the Google Sign-In service. Some information pages are accessible without signing up.
Users must be at least 13 years old to sign up. Minors under 16 must have the permission of their legal guardian.
SECBEC reserves the right to refuse access to the service at its sole discretion, in particular in the event of a breach of these Terms.
5. Account creation and management
Users undertake to provide accurate and up-to-date information when signing up. When signing up by email, a verification message is sent; the account is only activated once this address is confirmed. When signing up with Google Sign-In, the email address is provided directly by Google and deemed verified.
Users are solely responsible for keeping their login credentials confidential (VocaBag password or the Google account used). Any use of the account is deemed to be made by the user themselves, unless a compromise is reported as soon as possible through the contact form.
Each user may only hold one active account. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate the leaderboard or statistics is prohibited.
6. User obligations and conduct
By using VocaBag, users undertake to:
- use the service in accordance with its educational purpose and these Terms;
- not attempt to circumvent, alter or disrupt the technical operation of the service;
- not attempt unauthorized access to the systems, databases or accounts of other users;
- not use automated scripts, bots or third-party tools to interact with the service artificially;
- not post offensive or illegal content, or content infringing the rights of third parties (in particular in free-text fields such as the username);
- respect the intellectual property rights of SECBEC and third parties.
7. Prohibited uses
It is expressly prohibited to:
- extract, copy, redistribute or sell all or part of VocaBag's educational content without prior written permission;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the application's source code;
- use the service for commercial or profit-making purposes without the express agreement of SECBEC;
- submit false or misleading data likely to affect the integrity of the leaderboard or statistics;
- share your login credentials with third parties.
8. Intellectual property
All VocaBag content — source code, interfaces, vocabulary, translations, transliterations, example sentences, audio files, logos and graphic elements — is protected by intellectual property law and belongs to SECBEC or its rights holders.
Using the service does not grant users any ownership right or licence over these elements, other than a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right of use, strictly limited to using the service for educational purposes.
9. Availability and maintenance
SECBEC uses reasonable means to ensure the continuity and availability of the service. However, interruptions may occur due to maintenance operations, updates, technical incidents or circumstances beyond the publisher's control.
SECBEC reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of the service, temporarily or permanently, without notice and without giving rise to any compensation.
In the event of a prolonged interruption or permanent discontinuation of the service, SECBEC undertakes to inform users within a reasonable time, wherever possible.
10. Limitation of liability
SECBEC cannot be held liable for:
- errors, inaccuracies or omissions that may affect the educational content;
- temporary inability to access the service for any reason whatsoever;
- direct or indirect damage related to the use of, or inability to use, the service;
- loss of data due to an unforeseen technical failure;
- acts of third parties harming the integrity of the service.
In any event, SECBEC's liability under these Terms may not exceed the amounts paid by the user to access the service over the previous 12 months.
11. Links to third-party sites
The site may contain hyperlinks to third-party sites or resources. SECBEC has no control over these sites and accepts no responsibility for their content, privacy policy or practices. Users access these third-party sites at their own risk.
12. Termination and suspension of the account
Users can delete their account at any time from their settings. This action is immediate and irreversible.
SECBEC reserves the right to suspend or terminate a user's access to the service, without notice or compensation, in the event of a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, or of behaviour likely to harm the integrity of the service or other users.
13. Changes to the Terms
SECBEC reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Users will be informed of any substantial change by email or by a notice displayed on the site. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the new terms. The Terms in force are those published on this page on the date they are consulted.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute regarding their interpretation, performance or the use of the service, and failing an amicable settlement, the French courts shall have sole jurisdiction. For consumer users residing in a Member State of the European Union, the mandatory consumer protection provisions in force in their country of residence remain applicable.
In accordance with article L.612-1 of the French Consumer Code, in the event of an unresolved dispute, consumer users may refer the matter to a consumer mediator. The publisher must still provide the mediator’s contact details.
